William H. Schutte Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The William H. Schutte Memorial Endowed Scholarship will provide scholarship support to students pursuing a teaching credential in Physical Education in the School of Teacher Education in the College of Education.
To apply for this scholarship, submit a General Application.
If you do not meet all of these requirements in a given term, you may lose your scholarship eligibility and your scholarship may be canceled.
Requirements:
- Recipient must be a student pursuing a teaching credential in Physical Education in the School of Teacher Education.
- Recipients must have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 or the arithmetic equivalent.
- Recipients must be enrolled full-time.
Donor Profile:
William (Bill) Schutte played football at the University of Idaho, where he received a bachelor’s degree in education. He later worked at San Diego High School as a teacher. Bill Schutte was first appointed to a faculty position at San Diego State in 1947. He was assistant professor and head football coach. He served as head coach for 9 years until 1956. His head coaching highlights included a winning record (48W-36L-4T) and bowl games in 1948 and 1951. The "Bill Schutte Era’’ is highlighted here. Bill Schutte continued his teaching career in physical education and also served as department chair for physical education for men between 1964 and 1969.
