Donor Profile:

The Simmons Family Endowed Scholarship was established in 2023 to honor the memory of Timothy James Simmons, Jr. who died at age 57 after a long illness. Tim received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in educational technology from SDSU. He devoted his life to elementary education as a teacher and as a charter school administrator. He enjoyed the arts and often used these interests to spark enthusiasm in his young learners. Even with administrative responsibilities, Tim found time to teach youngsters in the computer lab. Tim appreciated SDSU and the opportunities it gave to him. The Simmons family hopes to continue his legacy through this scholarship for future teachers.
