Donor Profile:
In 1966, Traute Gleeson joined Lufthansa airlines as a flight attendant. Her airline career swerved off course a year later when she met Gene Gleeson (’71), who was serving in the U.S. Army at Armed Forces Radio in Frankfurt. They married in Germany in 1969 and moved to San Diego so Gene could finish his studies in history at San Diego State University. Gene worked in TV news, while Traute continued to work in the travel industry, eventually owning her own agency. The couple traveled the world and Traute was a true global citizen. Her legacy will continue through the Traute Gleeson Memorial Scholarship for German and European Studies, which was established in her honor to support students pursuing a German-focused program at SDSU.
