Dorothy Allshouse Endowed Scholarship
The Dorothy Allshouse Scholarship supports full-time students who have been out of school in the workforce for an extended period of time and are returning to school to earn a degree.
If you do not meet all of these requirements in a given term, you may lose your scholarship eligibility and your scholarship may be canceled.
Requirements:
- All majors and class levels are eligible.
- Recipient(s) must be enrolled full-time.
- Recipient(s) will be non-traditional student(s) who have previously been in the workforce and are now pursuing a college degree.
- Recipient(s) should be pursuing their first bachelor’s degree.
- Award may be renewed but it is not automatic. Previous recipients must reapply for consideration.
- Recipients must have financial need, as determined by the SDSU Financial Aid Office.
- Applicants must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application by the scholarship opportunity’s deadline for financial need to be determined.

- Please submit an essay addressing the following: Describe what you did during the years you were not in school and what motivated you to return. Describe what you think are the greatest challenges faced by those returning to school to pursue higher education after a period in the workforce.
