Mindy Gates O'Mary Memorial Scholarship
When Mindy Gates O’Mary, a vibrant young writer, developed multiple sclerosis, the California Press Women established this tribute award as a token of love and encouragement. Upon her death the award became a scholarship designed to encourage young, unpublished writers. It is available exclusively to SDSU students. Applicants must be unpublished writers to be eligible.
If you do not meet all of these requirements in a given term, you may lose your scholarship eligibility and your scholarship may be canceled.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be studying in the Department of English and Comparative Literature, Journalism & Media Studies, or Rhetoric and Writing Studies.
- Undergraduate juniors, seniors, and graduate students are eligible.
- Applicants are not required to be enrolled full-time.

- Submit an original short story of no more than 2,500 words with a surprise ending. Be sure to provide a title with your short story.
