Norma Funderburk Scholarship

The Norma Funderburk Scholarship is an endowment whose annual income distributions will be used to support student scholarship(s) within the School of Social Work.

If you do not meet all of these requirements in a given term, you may lose your scholarship eligibility and your scholarship may be canceled.

Requirements:

  • Recipients must be undergraduate or graduate level students pursuing a program of study in the School of Social Work.
  • Recipients must be involved in Fetal Alcohol Effect (FAE) or Fetal Drug Syndrome/Effect research, practice, and/or training. If none of the applicants is involved in FAS/FAE research, practice, and/or training, an applicant meeting all other eligibility criteria may receive the award.
  • Demonstration of financial need, as determined by the SDSU Financial Aid Office, is not required for initial consideration.
  • Undergraduate students must have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00, or the arithmetic equivalent.
  • Graduate students must have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.85 out of 4.00, or the arithmetic equivalent.
  • Selected student(s) must be enrolled at least part-time to remain eligible for this scholarship.
  • This is a renewable scholarship. Previous recipients must reapply to be considered for a renewal award.

  1. Submit an essay of up to 500 words describing your involvement in Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), Fetal Alcohol Effect (FAE), or Fetal Drug Syndrome/Effect research, practice, and/or training. If you have not been involved in any of these areas, submit an essay describing your educational and professional goals and how you plan to achieve them.
