Val Ryser Memorial Scholarship

Val Ryser was active in San Diego advertising for many years until her death in 1988. This scholarship was funded by her colleagues, media associates and clients. The Val Ryser Memorial Scholarship is an endowment whose annual income distributions will be used to support student scholarships within the Department of Journalism and Media Studies in the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts.

To apply for this scholarship, submit a General Application.

If you do not meet all of these requirements in a given term, you may lose your scholarship eligibility and your scholarship may be canceled.

Requirements:

  • Recipients will be pursuing a program of study in journalism or journalism with an emphasis advertising.
  • Recipients will be upper division undergraduate students who have completed at least 60 units.
  • Preferred student will be a re-entry student to higher education.
  • Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.50 out of 4.00, or arithmetic equivalent.
  • Undergraduate students are not required to be enrolled full-time.
