John M. & Theodora Yarborough Memorial Scholarship

Dr. John Yarborough became the first Director of Housing at San Diego State University in 1959. Until his retirement in 1972, he was a leader of student housing professionals in California and, in 1956 while serving as Director of Housing at Stanford University, was the founding President of the California Association of College and University Housing Officers (now Western Association of College and University Housing Officers). He passed away at his home in the San Diego area in 1994. Mrs. Theodora Yarborough was the first Head Resident of Toltec Hall when it opened in 1959. After working there several years, she and Dr. Yarborough were married and she continues her interest and contributions in student housing. She is now retired and living in Washougal, Washington.

If you do not meet all of these requirements in a given term, you may lose your scholarship eligibility and your scholarship may be canceled.

Requirements:

  • Recipients must be living in the residence halls.
  • This scholarship is restricted to the Housing Office for students with special needs.
  • Undergraduate students are not required to be enrolled full-time.
  • Graduate students are not required to be enrolled full-time.
  • Credential students are not required to be enrolled full-time.
